BIE, Education Department to hold session on CARES Act

The Bureau of Indian Education and the Department of Education will hold a joint Tribal  listening session April 30 at 12 p.m. (ET). The discussion will be about the $153 million in emergency coronavirus funding available to the BIE in the CARES Act.

Scheduled speakers include Ron Lessard (Mohawk), acting executive director, White House Initiative on American Indian and Alaska Native Education; Tony Dearman (Cherokee), director, Bureau of Indian Education; and Ruth Ryder, Deputy assistant secretary, Office of Elementary and Secondary Education and, acting director, Office of Indian Education, U.S. Department of Education.
