(Image via Facebook) A daylong summit scheduled for Oct. 6 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is set to highlight current business and economic development projects that the region’s tribes are involved in. Organizers said the “Great Lakes Tribal Economic Summit” will also offer panel discussions and speakers who will talk about strategies and innovations in Indian Country, with a focus on working with tribes, tribal enterprises, Native businesses and Indigenous entrepreneurs. Some sessions will highlight how to gain access to capital in Indian Country, opportunities in tourism for tribes, and how Covid-19 has reshaped tribal economic development. Those scheduled to present include senior-level federal officials and Native American executives from the U.S. Small Business Administration, U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Department of Energy and U.S. Department of Transportation.
