Native film festival to feature celebrity appearances, screenings

HOLLYWOOD – The annual Native Reel Cinema Festival will be held in the Seminole Hard Rock ballrooms at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood on Feb 10 and Feb. 11, 2023. The festival, which takes place at the Seminole Tribal Fair & Pow Wow, celebrates the art and culture of Native American artists, filmmakers and musicians.

Celebrity meet and greet sessions will be held Feb. 10 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. and Feb. 11 at 3 p.m.

Native Americans from the film and/or TV industry scheduled to appear at the festival include Academy Award nominated actor Graham Greene (“Dances with Wolves,” “Thunderheart,” “Die Hard with a Vengeance”); actors Jeremiah Bitsui (“Breaking Bad,” “Better Call Saul”), Eugene Braverock (“Wonder Woman,” “The Revenant”), Martin Sensmeier (“The Magnificent Seven,” “Yellowstone”) and Billy Wirth (“The Lost Boys”); filmmakers Steve Paul Judd (“American Indian Graffiti”), Bird Running Water (“Four Sheets to the Wind”) and Shaandiin Tome (“Mud (Hashtł’ishnii)”); composer, guitarist, producer and writer Stevie Salas; and “Next Level Chef” winner Pyet DeSpain.

The festival will also feature a performance from MTV/VMA winning Seminole artists Spencer Battiest and Doc Native on Feb. 11.

All events are free.

Feb. 10: “War Party” 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Feb. 11: “Concrete 49” 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Feb. 11: “Long Line of Ladies” 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Feb. 11: “The Water Walker” 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Feb. 11: “Mud” 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Feb. 11: “Thunderheart” 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
