Moore Haven High School’s memorable volleyball season has reached the Final Four.
After winning their first district title and first regional final, the Terriers, whose roster has seven tribal members from the Seminole Tribe of Florida, will face Liberty County on Nov. 4, 2024, at 10 a.m. in a Class Rural state semifinal at Polk State College’s Health Center in Winter Haven.
The other semifinal features defending state champion Baker against Branford at 1 p.m.
The semifinal winners will meet Nov. 6 at 10 a.m. in the state championship at Polk. All games will be broadcast on NFHS Network.
The health center is a 30,000 square-foot multi-use facility that is home to the college’s basketball and volleyball teams.
The brackets were reseeded after the regional championships. Branford is seeded No. 1 followed by Liberty (2), Moore Haven (3) and Baker (4).
Guided by head coach Mona Baker and assistant coach Jerry Veloz, Moore Haven has compiled a 17-2 record in what has become by far the best season in program history. The Terriers are on a 15-match winning streak that started back on Aug. 30. Moore Haven’s record is not far away from being perfect; their two losses both came in five-set matches.
In the regional playoffs, the Terriers produced two solid wins, including a 3-0 victory against Williston in a regional final Oct. 29 at home.
Moore Haven has three seniors, including captain Preslynn Baker from the tribe.
Liberty, from Bristol, Florida, in the Panhandle, has a 19-6 record. Liberty has four seniors on its roster. The Bulldogs have had strong teams the past several years, including 2022 when they won a state championship.
