U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Haaland will join the Mellon Foundation at 4 p.m. on Sept. 5, 2024, in a virtual discussion. Titled, “Telling the American Story on Our Public Lands,” the event will discuss efforts to inclusively share American history in public spaces.

The event is free and open to the public. To learn more or register, visit mellon.org/events.

Haaland and Mellon Foundation president Elizabeth Alexander will talk about “reparative work Haaland leads on our public lands, the charge of stewardship for racial and environmental justice, and the role of Interior in telling the American Story.”

The Mellon Foundation’s mission is to support the arts and humanities and build communities to create a space for ideas and imagination through grants, according to its website.
