High school and middle school girls volleyball players from the Seminole Tribe will be in action as the playoff season starts in the coming days. Here’s a look at some of the games:
• Okeechobee High School, whose roster includes Seminoles Lexi Thomas and Yani Smith, will host Sebring on Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. in a Class 5A-District 13 semifinal. Okeechobee is the No. 2 seed; Sebring is No. 3. Jensen Beach, who narrowly edged Okeechobee in the regular season finale, is the top seed.
• Moore Haven High School is the No. 6 seed in the Class 2A-District 12 playoffs. The No. 6 Terriers will face No. 3 Southwest Florida Christian Academy, from Fort Myers, in a quarterfinal match Oct. 16 at 5:30 p.m. All playoff games in the eight-team tournament will be played at St. John Neumann Catholic High School in Naples. Seacrest Country Day is the No. 1 seed. Tribal members on Moore Haven are Preslynn Baker, Ayana Fonseca, Summer Gopher, Marley Jimmie and Miley Jimmie.
• Hollywood Hills High School, which features the tribe’s Jasmine Bernard-Frank, Mary Sally Osceola and Xiya Osceola, is the No. 3 seed in the Class 5A-District 15 playoffs. Hollywood Hills will meet No. 2 Pembroke Pines Charter on Oct. 17 at 5:30 p.m. in a semifinal at Archbishop McCarthy High School in Southwest Ranches. Archbishop McCarthy is the top seed.
• Pemayetv Emahakv Charter School earned the No. 1 seed and a first round bye in the middle school Around the Lake Tournament, which runs Oct. 17-19. PECS will host No. 4 Glades Day or No. 5 LaBelle in a semifinal Oct. 18 at 5 p.m. The other side of the bracket features No. 2 Yearling, No. 3 West Glades and No. 6 Clewiston. The championship game is scheduled to be held Oct. 19 at 5 p.m. on the home court of the highest seed remaining.
