WEST PALM BEACH – The Warner University baseball team, which includes Trevor Thomas from the Brighton Reservation, outlasted St. Thomas University, 18-16, on opening day of the Sun Conference Tournament on Thursday night.

The teams combined for staggering numbers, including 38 hits, 5 home runs, 15 walks and 25 runners left on base.

St. Thomas, the No. 2 seed, led 6-1 after two innings, but fifth-seeded Warner surged ahead for good thanks to scoring eight runs in the third and six in the fifth.

Trevor Thomas entered the game in the top of the ninth. The Okeechobee High School graduate singled to right field on an 0-2 pitch in his only at-bat. He was thrown out on a steal attempt at second base.

Warner advances in the winners’ side of the six-team double-elimination tournament and will face Keiser or Webber tonight (May 7) at 7:30 p.m. All games are being played at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach. The games are streamed live on the conference website. Click here for more information.
