Trevor Thomas earns conference all-academic honor

Trevor Thomas

Warner University outfielder Trevor Thomas, from the Brighton Reservation, has been named to the Sun Conference Baseball All-Academic Team. The nine-team conference announced May 3 that 42 players qualified for the honor, including seven from Warner.

Students must be enrolled for two full semesters or more and carry at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Thomas earned a degree in agribusiness at Warner in 2021. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree at the Lake Wales school.

Thomas, an Okeechobee High School graduate, is in his fifth season on Warner. This season marks an additional year of eligibility he was granted due to the pandemic-shortened season in 2020.

He has appeared in 15 games this season and has a .206 batting average with seven hits and five RBIs in 34 at-bats.

Warner has a 40-14 record and is ranked No. 16 nationally in NAIA.

The double-elimination Sun Conference tournament will run May 5-8 at The Ballpark of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach. Warner, the No. 3 seed, will face No. 4 Keiser University on May 5 at 6 p.m.
