FSU to host virtual forum with U.S. senators

TALLAHASSEE — A free virtual forum featuring U.S. Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) will be held March 1 at 6:30 p.m. as part of a keynote kickoff event for the new Institute of Politics at Florida State University (IOP@FSU).

The forum is part of a “Celebrating Civility” speaker series from IOP@FSU, whose mission, according to a press release, is to engage FSU students, Floridians and all citizens in the political process by promoting civil debate, civic engagement and research.

“Now more than ever, we need to restore civility,” John Thrasher, FSU president, said in a statement. “We’re honored that Senators Romney and Manchin are joining us for an important conversation about the future of American politics.”

Romney and Manchin are expected to share their thoughts on the current state of politics, bipartisanship and policymaking.
